Ex Convento di San Francesco

San Francesco is part of a 16th Century compound designed by a Renaissance architect for the noble Orsini family, 10 minutes walking outside Pitigliano old town, an ancient and beautiful borgo in Tuscany. Situated on 26 acres, the convent is perched over a wooded ravine with dramatic views of distant vineyards and grazing sheep in the meadows below; the property adjoining the park holds Etruscan carved throne seats and reclining sculptural remains of a garden created at the time of the convent's construction.
The building itself has been renovated with all modern conveniences while maintaining the look of an untouched and magical place. There is a fully equipped chef's kitchen, high speed internet and an 18m saltwater pool overlooking a fascinating landscape towards Monte Amiata.
The house's rose-covered cloister in the front courtyard is perfect for outdoor dining or just lounging outside. The ground floor's main receiving room was once a winery and today hosts large wood-burning hearth with dining space for up to 20 guests (and there is also a cosy dining area for 6 guests by the auxiliary kitchen). Another very comfortable sitting room sits sided by the library upstairs, both opening onto a terrace with views over the lavender-parterred ancient fi
g garden, great at sunset, and countless other very private spots. Six bedrooms (5 doubles and 1 twin) are decorated with beautiful linen sheets, silk tapistries and down pillows.
