Sensitively restored and elegantly decorated, this historic cluster of Tuscan buildings grouped around the main house, dates back to centuries ago and features original stone and brick walls. A tasteful mélange of antique and modern furniture decorate the 7 guest suites at Castello di Vicarello, with an oriental touch testifying many years spent in Indonesia. 4 suites overlook the castle courtyard, paved with ancient flagstones, while 3 more occupy outbuildings in the midst of a verdant garden of white roses, lavender and ancient olive trees. A Spa house has been built to remind seasoned travellers of luxury camp tents in Africa, with an infinity pool beneath it facing the vineyards, a recent addition to the hill which hosts the Castello. A further swimming pool is housed amidst the olive trees. The two kitchens are the heart of this home, each opening onto lovely dining rooms, where the cooks at Vicarello will serve delicious homemade meals. Cooking classes are available with the owner who has even published her own collection of Tuscan recipes.
