Château du Vignal is located on a forty five acre estate about ten kilometers north of Nice, a convenient thirty-minute drive from Nice International Airport. The property forms a natural amphitheater at an altitude of 400 meters, with striking views of ridges and valleys, and is considered one of the most beautiful private domains of the Côte d’Azur. The square tower dating from the year 1020 sides a 14th Century the castle which served as a monastery until the county of Nice became part of France in 1860. Since then it has been the property of the current owners.
A swimming pool lined with travertine marble was built in 2012 in the field behind the chapel, where a rare millennium-old strawberry tree still flourishes. From the lawn around the pool, swimmers enjoy a wonderful view over the olive groves and the blue crests of the foothills of the Alps.
The 850 sq m Château spreads over three elegantly furbished stories, with dining room, kitchen and living room on the ground storey leading from the entrance hall, 4 guest bedrooms including the master suite sharing the upper floor with the main living room's library and fireplace, and a Children's floor with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms intended for younger guests. In the adjacent Tower are 2 further bedrooms with a bathroom sharing and a panoramic rooftop terrace. The east wing of the castle, called The Pavillon, is available as accommodation with 3 bedrooms and bathrooms.
The estate boasts an award-winning olive oil, the grounds produce many of the ingredients used in the Castle's kitchens, and guests here have a quiet space for practising yoga and meditation as well as receiving massages in The Hermitage cottage.
