Hacienda Petac

Built on the remains of a Mayan site on 250 acres at the edge of the Cuxtal ecological reserve, Hacienda Petac is one of the most extraordinary and immersive private estate experiences in the world. Originally established as a 17th-century cattle ranch and later transformed into a henequen hacienda, the property was meticulously restored by the celebrated architectural firm Reyes-Ríos + Larraín — preserving every layer of its remarkable history while bringing the whole to a level of luxury that is, quite simply, without comparison in the Yucatán.
Seven ensuite suites, distributed across four buildings arranged around the main house, accommodate up to 14 guests in rooms of exceptional grandeur: soaring ceilings, original tile floors, 11-foot wooden doors opening onto colourful courtyards, and beautiful native stone bathrooms with separate tubs and showers. The kitchen is the soul of Hacienda Petac — aromas drift through the estate all day, and guests wander in and out as if at home, watched over by cooks considered among the finest in the region. All meals, airport transfers, daily laundry, concierge services, and a programme of cultural activities are included with the 23-strong staff. The spa — three open palapas with chukum walls housing a gym, massage rooms, a nail salon, and Jacuzzi — is as beautiful as it is complete.
Beyond the estate's formal gardens, sculpture-dotted grounds, hammocks, library, game room, and chapel, the surrounding landscape is rich beyond measure. Chichén Itzá, Uxmal, and the cenotes of the Yucatán peninsula are within an hour; the colonial city of Mérida is 40 minutes away; and the magical pueblo of Izamal a short drive further. Hacienda Petac is the rare place that makes leaving genuinely difficult.
