Il Borgo is an historic property set in a large estate of more than 100 hectares, set between Catania and Syracuse, along the glistening eastern Sicilian coast. Built in the 17th Century as a typical Sicilian Masseria, the cluster of surrounding outbuildings give it the look of a small rural hamlet, just a short 20 minutes from glorious Mediterranean beaches. Surrounding the villa is a large garden containing some archaelogical ruins from 800 BC and from the bedroom windows are views spanning as far as Mount Etna's white tip.
Thelarge leisure area hosts an 18x9m swimming pool, the indoor Spa boastsTurkish bath and shower, a summer kitchen and outdoor dining area lead from the main villa to the outbuildings, converted into ten separate bedrooms, decorated with consummate taste and simplicity, all opening onto the courtyard, itself entered through an evocative stone arch. A huge reception room faces a stone-vaulted patio, a perfect setting for breakfast, while the main dining room opens onto the exquisite formal gardens. The air-conditioned bedrooms with minibars and ensuite bathrooms are as independent as rooms in a boutique hotel, with a real house staff, and all the modern luxuries in a traditional Sicilian setting.
Beyond the formal garden, Il Borgo's grounds stretch endlessly, dotted with orange groves, olive groves and pastures, green woods, a stream running through a valley, and a rich variety of Mediterranean plants and trees. There is even a small estate church conceived for weddings and christenings.
