Once one of the twelve sumptuous hunting residences of the Granduke Ferdinando I, grandson of the famous Lorenzo de' Medici, now carefully restored and improved upon by the present owner, the Prince Borghese, whose family bought the property more than 200 years ago. Guests will feel fortunate to reside in such a unique atmosphere also close to a tennis club and famous thermal baths.
Each room is decorated with antiques, Venetian chandeliers and Persian rugs, showcasing items of the Borghese family's collection. The princely bedrooms have hosted illustruous guests, including Paolina Bonaparte and her sister Elisa, Duchess of Tuscany. A high, albeit contemporary, standard of luxurious living is maintained today by the Villa Medicea's staff who serve meals in the formal firelit dining room as well as on the al fresco patio located on the gravel terrace overlooking the villa's facade. A delicious cocktail or an espresso by the large swimming pool with view of the hills and the Val di Nievole is highly reccommended.
