A wonderful, very special, pieds-dans-l'eau Villa located in Maremma, at Castagneto Carducci, minutes to the celebrated vineyards of Bolgheri up the hill, and to the Etruscan tombs at Populonia down the shore. Villa Olmaia sits tucked away in the middle of a pine forest, protected by high dunes, but only a 4 minutes walk (private access) to the beach. The indoor surface measures 900 sq m, the lawn is incredibly vast and flat, and leads past the tennis court onto the pathways that cut though the ancient forest and towards the sand dunes. A beaten path in fact leads to the sandy beach which is essentially private, one km below Donoratico and a few above San Vincenzo, populated by sunbathers on summer weekends. The Villa Olmaia was built in the 1960s by a nobleman who spent time here with family, friends, and exotic animals collected during his travels to Africa.
